Charles was born on October 30, 1935 and passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.

Charles was a resident of Huntsville, Alabama at the time of passing.

He earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from San Diego State University, followed by graduate work at Illinois Institute of Technology and the University of Wisconsin.

In 1983, he and four Boeing colleagues co-founded Simulation Technologies, Inc., a technology contractor, primarily contracting with the United States Army.
